Ponyboy
Curtis is the main character and he is a very intelligent and solitary boy. He likes
to be alone and he likes to watch movies. He is a fourteen years teenager who
is an A student. Ponyboy is from the
east side, these people are poor and they are known as greasers. His parents
are dead and he lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. Darry is a
smart, serious, non-smiling and very hard working person. He dropped out of
high school so he could support his brothers even though he was very good in
his studies. Soda is the opposite of Darry; he is a happy, very outgoing and
extremely loud spoken person. Soda is also very handsome and he liked by all of
the gang. He is light-hearted, and he can make anyone grin. He also dropped out
of high school, but he was not good at studying. Ponyboy thinks he is in the
middle of those two. He is a bit like Darry and a bit like Soda. He thinks that
one day he will become like one of them. Johnny is the gang’s pet he is liked by all of
the gang. He used to be friendly and outgoing until the Socs attacked and beat
him. Now he carries a switchblade in his pocket all the time. Jonny’s parents
are mean and they abuse him physically and verbally. His parents don’t care
about him so Johnny doesn’t go there very often. He usually stays with the rest
of the gang. Johnny has been taught emotional pain and he is very disturbed. Dallas
Winston known as Dally, is a typical gangster who has been to jail, he has been
in fights and even attacked people. He
is cold-hearted and he doesn’t care about anything. Jonny idolizes Dally. He
wants to be like Dally when he grows up. Dally seems cold and distant, but he
cares for his gang if they are in trouble. Dally is rough but he likes to find
trouble and he usually does. Steve is a protective teenager. He disliked
younger people and found them annoying after a while. He felt his friendship
with Sodapop threatened when Ponyboy was near them. He thought that he might
destroy his relationship with Sodapop if he made a mistake when Ponyboy was
around.
