First Impression-Atharshan Kennedy

First impression: The Outsiders

When I first read this book I started to enjoy reading it through and discovering how the characters are in the story. To start off, Ponyboy lives and also is raised by his two brothers after both of his parents died in a car accident. For his whole life he is moodiness, forgetfulness, and has confused emotions that are totally understandable to everyone that is around him.  To Ponyboy the world is a hostile place where he can't cope with anyone else, not even him self. Johnny is six-teen years old, but looks like a little dark puppy who was kicked two many times. His parents ignore him when they are not physically or verbally abusing him. He is afraid of the Soc's since they beat him up last spring. He sleeps outdoors and doesn't get enough to eat some days. Even though he had crummy role models he still tries to stand up a good as he can. Darry is the oldest brother who works two long and is not interest in drawing pitchers. Soda, who is six-teen years old is the second oldest who never cracks a book at all. Soda is the nicest to Ponyboy then how Darry is to him.  Steve was six-teen and  was a a good friend of Soda. He is brave but that is only what Ponyboy say's about him. Two-bit- Matthew was the oldest of the group and the wise cracker of the brunch. He was six foot tall, stocky in build, he was very proud of his rusty side burns.

The setting of story stats that they live as one family, share the same room, and have to survive on what they can get there hands on. There are two groups, one group is rich (Soc's) and one group is poor (Greasers). Soc's tend to make them look better then everyone else while the Greasers tend to be pushed around by them and get into fight with the Soc's as well as both groups have different style of clothes and hair cuts. When I am reading this book I feel not having excitement when I first read it but still I don't feel that bored at all. Even though that I have read this book in Elementary school still I would want to read it again.
